Each house offers a space for spiritual growth, academic formation, and pastoral

engagement, fostering a spirit of fraternity, internationality and mission readiness.

  • Initial Formation Stages

There is a total of 118 candidates at the stage of initial formation. Our Province

plans for, invests in and contributes in staffing formators in the common Union of

the Circumscription of Eastern Africa (UCEAF) formation communities/houses.

We give them proper training and try to build teams which reflect diversity

(Bagamoyo II, 122-123).

  • Period of Missionary Experience (PME)

Thanks to the support from the Generalate and the collaboration of sister

circumscriptions, in the last four years, 100 % of our students went outside the

country for PME (Cf. Bagamoyo II, 116). Currently we have 19 students on PME in:

Bolivia 1, Uganda 3, Ethiopia 2, Madagascar 1, Kenya 2, Zimbabwe 2, Zambia 2,

DRC 1, Camerron 1, Trinidad & Tobago 1, Mauritius 1, South Sudan 1 and Germany

  1. We have 6 students on PME from: Vietnam 2, Nigeria 3 and Uganda 1.
  • Specialized Studies

The Province supports advanced specialization to strengthen mission capacity and

leadership across different fields as indicated below:

Three confreres successful completed specialized studies: 1 Certified Public

Accountant (CPA), 1 MA in Philosophy and 1 Bachelor degree in Civil Law.

6 With the exception of the postulancy, the other houses of formation belong to the Union of the

Circumscriptions of Eastern Africa (UCEAF: Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia and Tanzania). The 2nd cycle takes

place in Nairobi, Kenya.

A confrere completed a four-week training module in development studies at

CORAF. We plan to invest more in his professional development in this area.
